Deliteful Candles, Bath & Body Products
Hello fellow candle lovers!
I am a wife and mom of 4 children living in Upstate New York. I have had much experience with many different types of candle wax. 100% soy wax, soy blend wax, palm, and bee's wax can make great burning candles. I am not a big fan of burning 100% paraffin wax candles, paraffin wax is often added to soy wax to give it stability when making pillar candles, tarts, and bakery pies. I use a high quality soy/paraffin blend when creating my bakery tarts. Be cautious of buying candles at discount and dollar stores, stick to name brand candles and you will enjoy them for a long time. Now that my children are getting older, I am able to devote time and energy into a candle business of my own.

When you burn a candle for the first time, it remembers how far across the surface it melted. When burning your candle for the very first time, you must allow the entire top portion of the wax to become liquified before blowing the candle out. This means you have to look into the candle from the top, it should be all liquid with no hard wax, in doing so you will allow the candle to burn evenly from the top of the jar down to the bottom. You should have no wasted wax if following these directions.
You need to trim the wick before you light a candle each time. A candle wick should only be 1/4" when lit. This will help to prevent soot build up on the jar. Don't forget that any flame will feed on oxygen. Keep your candles out of a draft. Ceiling fans & open windows are the most common and that will feed the flame leading to smoke from the wick.
*Guidelines for the safe use and enjoyment of candles*
Candles are generally safe products, but may become hazardous when used improperly or in an unsafe manner. National fire safety agencies report that the bulk of candle fire incidents in the United States are due to consumer inattention to basic fire safety or to the misuse of candles. OFPC recommends the following safety tips when burning candles:
~ Extinguish all candles when you leave a room or before going to sleep.
~ Never burn a candle on or near anything that can catch fire.
~ Keep burning candles away from furniture, drapes, bedding, carpets, books, paper, flammable decorations, etc.
~ Keep candles out of the reach of children and pets.
~ Do not place lighted candles where they can be knocked over by children, pets or anyone else.
~ Keep burning candles away from drafts, vents and air currents. This will help prevent rapid, uneven burning, smoking and excessive dripping. Drafts can also blow lightweight curtains or papers into the flame where they could catch fire. Ceiling fans can cause drafts.
~ Keep the wax pool free of wick trimmings, matches and debris at all times.
~ Do not burn a candle for longer than the manufacturer recommends.
~ Always burn candles in a well-ventilated room.
~ Extinguish the flame if it comes too close to the holder or container. For a margin of safety, discontinue burning a candle when 2 inches of wax remain (1/2 inch if in a container). This will also help prevent possible heat damage to the counte/surface and prevent glass containers from cracking or breaking.
* ALWAYS PLACE YOUR CANDLE ON A HEAT RESISTANT SURFACE *
~ Never touch or move a votive or container candle when the wax is liquid.
~ Extinguish pillar candles if the wax pool approaches the outer edge.
~Candles should be placed at least three inches apart from one another. This is to be sure that they don't melt one another, or create their own drafts that will cause the candles to burn improperly.
~ One of the safest ways to extinguish a candle is to use a candle snuffer, which helps prevent hot wax from spattering.
